There are several fairy tale related books on sale as Kindle Daily Deals which are probably price matched with other sellers today, too. There haven't been many sales in the last several months, but today makes up for it with a lot of recent releases for at least half off.

New Book: Straw into Gold: Fairy Tales Re-spun by Hilary McKay and Sarah Gibb

Straw into Gold: Fairy Tales Re-spun by Hilary McKay (Author) and Sarah Gibb (Illustrator) was released this month. Gibb has illustrated several romantic fairy tale picture books that SurLaLune readers have enjoyed over the years. Hilary McKay has a loyal following in YA and is better known in the UK than the US. Her Casson family series has been highly recommended to me by several YA professionals over the years but I've yet to encounter a casual reader who has read her work in the states. An oddity but I am sharing to let you know she is well-liked, even beloved by many readers, even if you are not familiar with her work. What fascinated me was that the Wall Street Journal has reviewed the book for its United States release this month.

I haven't read the book myself yet take joy in that there are retellings of Princess and the Pea, The Swan Brothers and The Twelve Dancing Princesses among the other more usual suspects.

Daughter of the Forest: Book One of the Sevenwaters Trilogy by Juliet Marillier is on sale for a limited time in ebook format for $2.99.

Hard to believe this book is now 18 years old but it has become a fantasy modern classic. I bought it as a new book in hardcover when it was released, excited to read a book inspired by the Six Swans/Wild Swans/etc. fairy tale. It did not disappoint and remains a favorite of mine by Marillier who has had a successful career since this was published.

New Book: The Six Swans Illustrated by Gerda Raidt

The Six Swans by J & W Grimm (Author), Gerda Raidt (Illustrator) with a historical note by Jack Zipes was released last week.

I love Six Swans picture books for some reason. They always end up being some of my favorites. This is a worthy addition to the library of Six Swans titles, but I'll let the illustrations do most of the talking.
