Princess Academy: Palace of Stone by Shannon Hale has temporarily dropped to 50% off in HARDCOVER for $8.49 on Amazon. It was on my list for a Christmas present so I've snatched up a copy for my niece. It is the sequel to the Newbery Honor book, Princess Academy. Which she is also receiving. I should do an entire post on the books she is receiving for Christmas, shouldn't I?
Book description:
Coming down from the mountain to a new life in the city is a thrill to Miri. She and her princess academy friends have been brought to Asland to help the future princess Britta prepare for her wedding. There, Miri also has a chance to attend school-at the Queen's Castle. But as Miri befriends students who seem sophisticated and exciting she also learns that they have some frightening plans. Torn between loyalty to the princess and her new friends' ideas, between an old love and a new crush, and between her small mountain home and the bustling city, Miri looks to find her own way in this new place. Picking up where Princess Academy left off, and celebrating the joys of friendship, romance and the fate of fairy tale kingdoms, this new book delivers the completely delightful new story that fans have been waiting for.
I'm a huge fan of Shannon Hale, but even if I weren't completely biased and enamored by her wit and talent already, I'd recommend this book to everyone and anyone. It is one of the best books--YA or otherwise--I've read this year.
ReplyDeleteYes, PLEASE do an entire post on the books your niece is getting for Christmas! I am such a book snoop! (Also, because I'd like to vicariously live through you, since my niece isn't much of a reader and I wish I could spoil her with awesome books.)
