Upcoming Title: Marvelous Transformations: An Anthology of Tales and New Critical Perspectives

There's not much about this book available yet, but I am keenly interested in it when it does, so I thought I would share since I haven't heard much about it since last year's American Folklore Society Meeting (2010). This one will most likely join the ranks of regular textbooks:

Marvelous Transformations: An Anthology of Tales and New Critical Perspectives edited by Christine A. Jones and Jennifer Schacker (Ontario: Broadview Press, expected 2012)

This anthology will serve as a theoretical anchor in the complex field of folk/fairy tale studies that faculty can consult and students can purchase. Part I of the volume will include tales from print, oral, and theatrical traditions across world cultures. It aims to expand the territory of the map covered by conventional anthologies by including stories from diverse regions and periods across several genres. Part II presents a series of reflections by fifteen of the leading scholars in fairy-tale and folklore studies (three scholars on each of five topics). The collection of innovative scholarship in dialogue provides a springboard for class and scholarly discussions. The volume’s print material will be supplemented by a website with links to scholarly studies, an archive of images, information about upcoming conferences and publications, and a discussion board for teachers interested in sharing pedagogical insights.
