Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love, a compilation of the six part spin-off series from Fables, was released yesterday. Most of the press for this occurred last fall when the series was launched, but I know many of you wait for the compilations to read rather than subscribing or hunting down the individual issues. It is already backordered for a few days on Amazon which makes me think the series has been rather successful. But then again, Cinderella as a sexy superspy is a fun take on the often overexposed and tiresome queen of fairy tales.
Here's the official description for the book:
When supernatural artifacts from the Homelands begin surfacing in the modern world, it falls to Cinderella, Fabletown's best kept (and best dressed) secret agent to stop the illegal trafficking. But can Cindy foil the dark plot before Fabletown and its hidden, exiled inhabitants are exposed once and for all? And how does her long lost Fairy Godmother factor into the equation? You can read more about the character on the DC Wiki. And here's a fun article from last year about the series: Fables: The New Adventures of Cinderella: One of Fabletown's coolest characters is finally getting her own solo project.
Whether she's soaring through clouds, deep-sea diving, or cracking jaws, Cindy travels from Manhattan to Dubai and hooks up with a handsome, familiar accomplice who may be harboring secret motives of his own. Meanwhile, trouble brews back home in Fabletown when Cindy's overworked, underappreciated assistant decides to seize control of The Glass Slipper, Cindy's exclusive shoe boutique.
And while we're here, I never posted about the most recent Jack of Fables release that came out at the end of June: Jack of Fables Vol. 7: The New Adventures of Jack and Jack.
Finally, here are images for the original individual releases.
