From Michigan movie clips by Julie Hinds:
Smooch," a Hallmark Channel original movie that offers a fresh take on a classic fairy tale, is set to begin production Saturday in Detroit.
The cable television film is described as a live-action homage to the Brothers Grimm story "The Frog King," which is about a prince who's turned into a frog by a witch -- and a princess who helps him break the spell.
Kiernan Shipka -- she plays Don Draper's daughter, Sally, on "Mad Men" -- stars as Zoe, a girl who loves fairy tales and is looking for the ideal partner for her mother (Kellie Martin of "Life Goes On"). When Zoe drops a frog from her science class into San Francisco Bay, a handsome prince (Simon Kassianides) -- who's actually partied too much and fallen into a dinghy -- appears.
The movie is set to premiere next year sometime around Valentine's Day.
Well, that Frog Prince isn't on the list for a big screen treatment, so now it gets brought to the small screen instead. (And I am a Kiernan Shipka fan myself. She plays Sally brilliantly.)
