A SurLaLune Book Club?
Speaking of Oprah Book Clubs...
Now that the subscribed readers for this blog is roughly 400 daily readers--through various sources--I have been considering a monthly book club for SurLaLune. We could vote on a fairy tale related book and read one together each month of 2011, old or new releases. If this interests you, please say so in the comments and I can set up a voting choice to choose the book for January.
Edited to add:
As usual, I'm pretty much posting off the top of my head and brainstorming more than planning. If you are interested in the book club, in your comments feel free to say yes (or no) and start nominating titles that interest you. I'll list those and some others for us to vote on for the January title.
I would love to join a fairy tale book club! Were you considering doing more nonfiction about fairy tales, collections of classic ones, or retellings, or what? OR a combination?
ReplyDeleteI would love to do this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific idea! I would be interested in reading a combination of the genres Jason mentions above.
ReplyDeleteYes, add me as another one interested!

Count me in! I already read quite a few on my own. It would be nice yo be part of an actual book club.
ReplyDeleteI would be very interested in the book club! I'd love a combination of retellings, classic stories, and nonfiction as well. I'd love for "My Mother She Killed Me, My Father He Ate Me" to be an included title - it jumps out as one I've been wanting to read.
ReplyDeleteI am also interested in a book club. Any of the genres mentioned above would be great. Further, I am not concerned about the intended age group of selections -- well-written YA books are fine by me!
ReplyDeleteI would be so in! Any book fairy tale related would work for me.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely be in! And I'm only just coming to the Fairytale genre, so anything sounds great. :)
ReplyDeleteYes! - a mix please. Of the classics (Lord Dunsany, and the like) with contemporary...Also open to nonfiction - have you read Signe Pike's new book "Faery Tale"? Wonderful. I had to stop myself from reading too fast and devouring it... wanted to savor her journey finding the fae...
ReplyDeleteCan I still say I would love to be involved? Because I would love to be involved.
ReplyDeleteCount me in! I've recently become very interested in fairy tales, especially Russian fairy tales that include Baba Yaga. Now if only I could get my hands on some of the titles in SurLaLune's "Baba Yaga" section, but that's another issue. Are we going to read a mix of classic stories and modern retellings? Sounds awesome.
